Spanish-speaking mother seeks divorce (Suffolk)
The client and her husband were married in 1998 and last lived together earlier in 2007. They have a daughter with has special needs, and the client collects SSI benefits on her behalf. The client works full-time and lives with their daughter as well as an older child from a previous relationship. Her husband works as a janitor and pays informal child support that is above the Guidelines amount. The client wishes to keep the child support arrangement as is, and she and her husband are in agreement about custody and visitation. They jointly own a car with a lien on it, and the client would like her husband to pay off the loan and transfer ownership to himself. The client speaks Spanish, and VLP will assign an interpreter for the case.
