Pro Bono Opportunities for Students and Paralegals
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Volunteer Lawyers Project. Volunteering is an extremely rewarding experience and provides crucial support and aid in continuing our mission. Through your generous gift of time, talent and personal interests, our volunteers supplement the work of staff members by offering support that is so important and crucial to our clients dealing with civil legal matters. Whether you are an undergraduate, graduate student, law student, LLM, admin or a paralegal, VLP has a place for you!
All of our volunteer opportunities are unpaid and do not in anyway guarantee future employment. Volunteers who are able to obtain funding and/or are able to receive course credit for volunteering are welcome to apply. Volunteers are required to commit a minimum of 12 -16 hours per week each semester (three half days or two full days) and can volunteer additional hours during the summer months.
Volunteers are required to participate in an orientation and training upon being accepted into our program. In addition VLP offers training in specific areas of law to volunteers and volunteers can participate in our monthly luncheon held at MCLE where speakers are invited to discuss different legal issues affecting the law.
We offer volunteer positions every in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer semester. We have two locations where a student can volunteer, our main office and/or our call center office. In addition students can volunteer at our legal clinics located in various courthouses in the greater Boston area, all of which are accessible via public transportation.
Please keep in mind that, because of the area, driving/parking is very costly and not advisable. Click the links on the right for detailed description of our units and the opportunities available.
If you have questions, please contact Damaris Frias at email@example.com.
