Boston Housing Court Lawyer for the Day & Landlord Clinics

Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am in front of Courtroom 10 (5th Floor) of the Edward W. Brooke Courthouse, 24 New Chardon Street in Boston.

Attorneys are needed to advise and represent pro se low-income tenants and landlords at Boston Housing Court on Wednesday (public housing cases) and Thursday (private housing cases) mornings.  Usually this is for matters involving eviction.  Lawyers may represent a client in mediation while at court.

Our volunteer attorneys and law students:
  • Provide brief advice
  • Assist in preparing pleadings or motions
  • Represent clients in mediation or negotiation
  • Represent clients on a Limited Assistance Representation (LAR) basis in court hearings

The Volunteer Lawyers Project provides primary malpractice insurance for all pro bono work done under this project.

If you don't have experience in housing cases, we strongly suggest that you attend one of VLP's free Housing Law 101 classes before volunteering. Please check for upcoming training dates.

Or to get more information contact paralegal Alec Gubics

This project is a joint effort of VLP and the Real Estate section of the Boston Bar Association.
