Telephone Advice Panels in Family, Probate, Housing, and Consumer Law

Provide 30 minutes of advice to a client from anywhere over the phone.

VLP's Eastern Region Legal Intake (ERLI) helpline seeks experienced attorneys to provide telephone advice in various subjects including family law, probate, housing, and consumer law.

Here’s how it works:

You sign up to volunteer for 30-minute phone consultations at a time that's convenient for you. Clients who contact the ERLI helpline and are eligible for services but don't meet priorities for direct representation will be scheduled for telephone advice sessions. We will notify you if a client is signed up for one of your time slots and we will give you information about the client and the issue prior to the call.

Clients are advised that they are being referred for a consultation only, not direct representation.

You can volunteer as often as you like and may speak with the client from anywhere. The VLP office at 7 Winthrop Sq, Floor 2 and the ERLI call center at 197 Friend St. in Boston are also available for the telephone sessions.

We suggest that you sign up for at least two 30-minute sessions at a time.
